R-IPRS: Transforming Agriculture with Sustainable Pest Management Solutions
Founded by Dr. M.A. Rashmi, Rashvee-International Phytosanitary Research & Services (R-IPRS) is an innovative startup dedicated to redefining plant protection in India’s agricultural sector. With a strong academic background in entomology and over 16 years of research and teaching experience, Dr. Rashmi established R-IPRS to provide eco-friendly, residue-free pest control solutions, addressing critical challenges faced by farmers while safeguarding environmental health.
From Expertise to Entrepreneurship
Dr. Rashmi laid the foundation of her expertise at the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru, where she completed her MSc and PhD in agricultural sciences. Her career spans key roles at institutions like the Regional Plant Quarantine Station, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, and Monsanto India Ltd. Through these experiences, she recognized the harmful effects of conventional pesticides—toxic residues that degrade crop quality and harm ecosystems. This realization fueled her mission to develop safer, sustainable alternatives for pest management.
Innovative Solutions for Farmers
Launched in 2022, R-IPRS focuses on residue-free pest control for stored pulses like Tur dal, Pigeon pea, Green gram, Black gram, and Chickpea. Their flagship product—a non-insecticidal Bruchid repellent—was developed with support from the Agri-tech Ignite Grant (NSTEDB, DST, and GoI). This breakthrough ensures effective pest control without harmful chemical residues, making food safer for consumption.
Expanding its portfolio, R-IPRS has also introduced:
A patented, insecticide-free liquid lure for fruit flies (targeting mango, guava, and cucurbits).
These innovations highlight R-IPRS’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, combining biopesticides and botanical extracts to minimize environmental impact while maximizing crop protection.
Empowering Farmers Through Education & Outreach
R-IPRS goes beyond product development—it actively engages with farmers through:
A plant health clinic offering diagnostic services and biocontrol solutions, serving 50-60 farmers daily.
Educational initiatives to promote eco-friendly farming practices, benefiting over 5,000 farmers (primarily in South India).
By making sustainable solutions accessible and practical, R-IPRS is reshaping India’s agricultural landscape—one farm at a time.
Strategic Growth & Future Vision
With an investment of ₹30+ lakhs and funding from DST, BIRAC, and DBT, R-IPRS is scaling its impact. The startup is also exploring additional support from MANAGE and NABARD to expand operations. Future goals include:
Pan-India expansion and entry into global markets.
Continued R&D in bio-based pest management to enhance farmer livelihoods.
Dr. Rashmi’s Leadership & Philosophy
Driven by integrity, innovation, and environmental responsibility, Dr. Rashmi’s entrepreneurial journey is an inspiration. Her advice to aspiring agri-entrepreneurs? “Stay true to your values, remain passionate, and focus on creating real impact—both for farmers and the planet.”
A Greener Future for Agriculture
R-IPRS stands at the forefront of sustainable agriculture, blending cutting-edge research with farmer-centric solutions. By reducing reliance on harmful chemicals and promoting eco-friendly alternatives, the startup is not just protecting crops—it’s securing a healthier, more resilient food system for future generations.
With a strong foundation and visionary leadership, R-IPRS is poised to lead India’s transition toward sustainable farming—ensuring food safety, farmer prosperity, and environmental stewardship.
